THE COMMUNITY INTERPRETER® International Edition is the only national training program in the U.S. for community interpreters. It is a program of the highest caliber, always up to date and based on the highest quality content and finest pedagogy in the field. It is designed to be delivered as either a 40- to 60-hour certificate program. It has also been adapted for longer programs by colleges and universities.

What is community interpreting?
A specialization of interpreting that facilitates access to community services.
The list for the minimum requirements to practice as a community interpreter are:
· Be 18 years old
· To have a high school or secondary school diploma or equivalent
· To have proof of language proficiency
· Have a certificate for 40 hours of interpreter training (required for U.S. national medical interpreter certification: 40 hours of medical interpreter training)
Community interpreting is a growing profession that targets health care, education, human and social services. The use of qualified interpreters is promoted and endorsed by federal legislation, hospital accreditation agencies and many state and municipal laws. The Community Interpreter® International is the only national certificate program for community interpreting in the U.S.
