Hello

Welcome

ICCA (Interpreting Academy)is offering a webinar on February the 6th, @ 6:30 pm called "Palliative Care and the Interpreter'.

This is a 90-minutes webinar for interpreters of all languages to learn and review about Palliative Care. Talking about Palliative care through the interpreter is a unique challenge. Reviewing Palliative Care will empower the interpreter to overcome the challenge. Palliative Care is a new specialization in many countries, but it has been a growing field in medicine. With the increase of cases needing terminal care in the United States every interpreter should be trained in Palliative Care. In the California survey in 2010 to improve palliative care found that 40 % of patients spoke limited English. So, the interpreter not only needs to master the terminology but to be familiar and aware of the definitions and laws of Palliative Care. Many times court interpreters need to interpret for cases where dispositions are taken about living wills, power of attorneys and directives. It's important to be familiar with its terminology.
